Description

The Communication Flat Ribbon Cable with IDC Mass-Termination is the workhorse data-bus cable for any cabinet-mounted equipment that needs many parallel digital signals routed between boards, modules, or chassis. Flat ribbon geometry keeps the cable tidy inside dense racks, rolls and folds neatly through cable trays, and presents every conductor in a known spatial order for fast, repeatable termination. The standard build is 28 AWG, 16-pin (P/N 0150-10047), 10-core, 27.5 mm outer diameter, 0.3 mm² cross-section — sufficient for typical signal and low-power buses up to 300V at −15 to +70 °C.

The defining feature is the IDC (insulation-displacement connector) termination. Instead of stripping each conductor and soldering or crimping individually, an IDC connector's contacts pierce through the insulation and grip the copper conductor directly when the connector is pressed onto the ribbon under controlled force. Sixteen contacts terminate in a single press — gas-tight, repeatable, and dramatically faster than per-wire soldering. This is the de-facto industry standard for PLC backplanes, machine-vision and inspection equipment, manufacturing automation I/O, ATM and POS module buses, medical patient monitors, lab analyzers, and imaging consoles.

We build the cable to GB/T 2408 horizontal-burn (HB) standard with UL recognized PVC insulation (0.43 mm wall) and PVC jacket (0.54 mm wall) in black or gray. Custom pin counts (8 / 10 / 14 / 16 / 20 / 26 / 34 / 40 / 50), custom 1.27 mm / 2.0 mm / 2.54 mm pitches, custom lengths, and custom terminations — D-Sub, header sockets, FFC, protective sleeves — are all available to drawing. Every assembly passes 100% continuity test, ≥ 100 MΩ insulation resistance at 500 VDC, and a 1000 VAC / 60 second hi-pot withstand before packing. MOQ from 10 pcs, sample lead time 7–10 days.
